Colorado could get their star player ahead of their game against Stanford.

Head coach Deion Sanders said Travis Hunter is “most likely going to play” on Friday.

“Travis looks good,” Sanders said Wednesday on the Colorado Football Coaches Radio Show. “Shoot, Travis is Travis, man. God don’t make too many of those. He’s most likely going to play. We’ve got to see how he practices tomorrow. Today was a day off for him. You can’t just work him, work him, work him. He had to take it easy today — he practiced both ways yesterday because that’s who he is. He has the protection on his ribs.

Hunter went down on Sept. 16 against Colorado during the 43-35 double overtime win after quarterback Shedeur Sanders threw to Hunter. The play appeared to be over, but Colorado State safety Henry Blackburn came at Hunter with a late hit.

Hunter ultimately suffered a lacerated liver.

Thursday’s practice will be the ultimate tell for Hunter as the announcement hasn’t been made official yet on his status.

Sanders did say they don’t believe there will be limited exposure for the two-way star, either.

“Travis is the kind of guy, you just let him go,” Sanders said. “… He’s a grown man out there playing amongst boys.”

Through three games this season, Hunter tallied 16 catches on 213 receiving yards while being a wide receiver. On the other side, he possesses nine tackles and two passes defended at cornerback.
