On Sunday afternoon, the College Football Playoff selection committee made a rather shocking move when they decided to select the Alabama Crimson Tide for the playoff field over the Florida State Seminoles even though Florida State was undefeated and Alabama was not. And former United States President Donald Trump placed the blame on a pretty shocking source: Ron DeSantis.

In a social media post this week, Donald Trump blamed Ron DeSantis – the current governor of Florida who is running against him in the 2024 presidential race – for the committee choosing Alabama over Florida State, citing his “bad lobbying effort.”

“Florida State was treated very badly by the ‘Committee.’ They became the first Power Five team to be left out of the College Football Playoffs. Really bad lobbying effort…Lets blame DeSanctimonious!!!” Trump said in a post on Truth Social, the social media website he helped start after he was banned from both Twitter and Facebook back in 2020.

Of course, Trump’s decision to blame DeSantis for the College Football Playoff committee’s decision to choose Alabama over Florida State certainly led to a lot of reactions on social media.

To most people, it’s clear that DeSantis had absolutely nothing to do with the decision. But apparently, nobody told Trump that.
