Georgia

Earlier this year, the Georgia Bulldogs were struck with tragedy when football player Devin Willock and football support staff member Chandler LeCroy were killed in a car accident on Jan. 15. The Bulldogs community is still recovering, and at the team’s annual spring game on Saturday, the team honored their fallen members.

In honor of Willock and LeCroy, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck took a knee on the first play of the game and the Red Team took an intentional delay of game penalty as players took their helmets off and pointed to the sky.

It was certainly a touching moment in the scrimmage, and after the game, Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart addressed what went into the decision to honor the fallen members of the team in this way.

“Just thinking about both of them, and wishing they were with us,” Smart said according to On3. “Players wanted to do something to remember those two, and we thought that was a good way to honor them. It was important to honor both of them, and that’s what we did.”

It’s safe to say that both Willock and LeCroy will be on the minds of the Georgia team throughout the upcoming season.
