A former Georgia Bulldogs star, now a member of the coaching staff, has been arrested following a traffic incident last week.

Atlanta’s WSB-TV reported Monday that Athens-Clarke County police arrested Jarvis Jones Friday night on for reckless driving and speeding at maximum limits. The TV station reported that Jones posted $2,400 bail and was released.

No details of the incident were available.

According to the Bulldogs website, Jones works as Player Connection Coordinator for the defending national championship team.

Jones, 33, played two seasons at Georgia as a linebacker, finishing 10th in the Heisman Trophy voting as a senior in 2012. Drafted No. 17 overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2013, he played four seasons and started 35 games with the team before retiring.

While the traffic charges are both misdemeanors, and everyone is considered innocent until proven guilty, the news follows other troubling Bulldogs off-field news in recent months. Most notably, defensive lineman Jalen Carter was charged with reckless driving and racing following a Jan. 15 crash that killed Bulldogs lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy.

He pleaded no contest and received two months of probation, and was ordered to pay a small fine and serve community service.

Freshman wide receiver De’Nylon Morrissette was arrested and charged with DUI and speeding in May. Fellow receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint was charged with reckless driving and speeding later that month.

College football fans quickly reacted to the news.
