College football fans tuned in to watch Saturday’s Red River Rivalry game between No. 12 Oklahoma and No. 3 Texas might have been surprised to see President Joe Biden show up on their televisions.

Biden held a briefing on Saturday to address Hamas’ surprise attack against Israel and the United States’ stance on the situation.

ABC, which was broadcasting the Red River Rivalry, decided to interrupt the game briefly to show President Biden’s remarks. The breakaway came with a little over eight minutes left in the fourth quarter and Oklahoma leading 27-20.

“The United States stands with Israel,” Biden said. “There is never justification for terrorist attacks.

“We will make sure that they have the help their citizens need, and they can continue to defend themselves.”

After the statement was over, ABC returned to the game and Oklahoma missed a field goal attempt that could have put them up 10 points.

Despite the gravity of the situation and the importance of the moment around the world, some dedicated college football fans weren’t too happy to see Biden on their TV screen instead of Quinn Ewers.

“I’m sure breaking into the Red River Rivalry for a Biden statement is gonna go over great in Oklahoma and Texas,” said one person.

“Oklahoma and Texas fans seeing Joe Biden in the 4th quarter of a one score game. This should be good,” said another.

“ABC interrupting the Oklahoma and Texas game to show Biden giving his full support for Israel is more annoying than ESPN doing that last year with Aaron Judge trying to break the home run record far and away,” wrote another fan.

Oklahoma eventually won the game, 34-30.
