Former NC State Wolfpack player Joseph Boletepeli spent two seasons with the program before transferring to the Maryland Terrapins to finish out his college football playing career. But it seems like he might have had some lingering resentment for NC State head coach Dave Doeren.

According to a report from ESPN, Boletepeli was arrested this week and charged with stalking and communicating threats to Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren.

Boletepeli reportedly sent a Tweet that said “Imma get him I promise. Dave Doeren and the restT.” This Tweet came after the former NC State player was seen near Doeren’s workplace on multiple occasions, according to ESPN. He also sent several text messages threatening Doeren and other staff members.

According to court records obtained by ESPN, Boletepeli’s alleged actions and behavior “would cause a reasonable person to suffer substantial emotional distress by placing that person in fear of death, bodily injury … or the safety of the person’s immediate family.”

In his two seasons at NC State, Boletopeli appeared in nine games for the Wolfpack making 13 tackles along with 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He then transferred to Maryland ahead of the 2020 season where he played five games and totaled eight tackles and one tackle for loss.
