Dabo Swinney Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney speaks in the Smart Family Media Center at the Smart Family Media Center at the Poe Indoor Practice Facility in Clemson, S.C. Tuesday, Oct 24, 2023.

The Clemson Tigers and head coach Dabo Swinney have not lived up to expectations this season, sitting at just 4-4 on the season. And Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart cracked a joke at Swinney’s expense that many college football fans took notice of.

Swinney recently had a run-in with an angry Clemson fan on his weekly radio show, where the fan, known only as “Tyler from Spartanburg,” took issue with how much Swinney was being paid considering their disappointing year thus far.

This caused Swinney to go off on the fan,  telling him that he was “a part of the problem” with the Clemson fan base and that he could “apply for the job” if he didn’t like how Swinney coached the team.

Smart presumably took notice of Swinney’s epic tirade toward the fan, making light of the situation on his own weekly radio show on Friday.

“I hope we have a great crowd, a lot of great questions I’m ready for,” said Smart to kick off his show. “I hope we don’t have any questions from Tyler in Spartanburg. I’m trying to avoid that.”

Many around the college football world got a good laugh out of Smart’s subtle dig at Swinney.

Georgia’s season has gone far better than Clemson’s, so it’s safe to say that we won’t get any “Tyler from Spartanburg” situations on Smart’s radio show.

The Bulldogs are one of only eight undefeated teams remaining in college football and are ranked No. 2 in the country in the latest AP Poll.
