Lane Kiffin Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

On Wednesday evening, legendary Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban suddenly announced his retirement from the program, leaving one of the most high-profile jobs in college football open and available. And it sounds like there’s a chance that one of Saban’s former assistants could be in the running for the role.

According to recent odds released by BetOnline.ag, current Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin is one of the frontrunners to land the job with the Alabama Crimson Tide as the sportsbook is giving him 5/1 odds of becoming the next Alabama head coach, which are the third-best odds behind just Dan Lanning of Oregon and Dabo Swinney of Clemson.

Obviously, Lane Kiffin has quite a history with Alabama and Saban, serving as the offensive coordinator under Saban with the Tide from 2014 to 2016. Kiffin found a lot of success in the role, finishing as a finalist for the Broyles Award in 2014 and helping lead the team to a national title in 2015.

Kiffin figures to be a top candidate, but here’s a full list of the potential candidates and their odds to land the job on SportsBetting.ag via Cole Cubelic:
