Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin is certainly not shy about giving his open and honest thoughts on NIL and the transfer portal. And it turns out, there’s a very good reason for that: people appreciate it.

During a recent appearance on Marty & McGee, Lane Kiffin was asked why he feels the need to be so blunt when he talks about those issues and explained that it’s because he’s found that fans and media very much appreciate his candor.

“It’s not like I’m the president, giving the State of the Union,” Lane Kiffin joked, according to On3. “President of NIL and [transfer] portal problems, but I do that because you guys tell me afterward how appreciative you are or like I see fans or players, parents or recruits, and they’re like, ‘Wow. Thank you. We didn’t really know that’s what’s really happening because no other coach talks like that.’”

It’s clear that the transfer portal and the current NIL rules have changed college football, and Kiffin is not really a fan of those changes. So until something changes, it’s reasonable to expect him to continue to speak out against what he sees as a problem in college football.
