During Saturday afternoon’s game between the USC Trojans and the California Golden Bears, the contest was delayed when a group of protesters went onto the field. It was certainly a distraction from the game, and Lincoln Riley couldn’t help but make a joke about it during his postgame press conference.

During his postgame press conference on Saturday afternoon, Lincoln Riley – who coached the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, Oklahoma before moving to southern California to coach USC – had a pretty hilarious reaction to the on-field protest during the game, saying “Welcome to California.”

“That was unique,” Riley laughed when asked about the on-field protest that delayed the game. “This whole week was weird. So it was fitting — well, I guess we had the beginning of the game too. I forgot about that. Welcome to California.”

As for the game itself, the Trojans were able to snap a two-game losing streak with a narrow win over Cal. The Trojans came away with a 50-49 victory after Cal failed a two-point conversion late in the game with the game on the line.

It’s been a somewhat disappointing year for the Trojans, who expected to be national title contenders this season, but at least they snapped their losing skid this week.
