New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick declined to announce whether or not Mac Jones would be the team’s starting quarterback next week when the team returns from a bye week, and it sounds like Jones himself doesn’t even know if he’ll be the starter.

During an appearance on the Jones and Mego Show on WEEI, Mac Jones was asked whether or not he was told if he would be the team’s starting quarterback this week.

“No. We haven’t talked about that,” Jones said according to Pro Football Talk. “Really just, today we watched the game film and kind of talked about the plans for the bye week. We have practice tomorrow. Just see how it goes there and the bye week is a great time to work on things that you can do better so, that’s what I’m going to do. ”

Jones was benched late in Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, but backup quarterback Bailey Zappe actually performed worse and threw a game-sealing interception. But Jones is not focused on when the decision could be.

“Um. I really am not focusing on that and really just focusing on things I can control and focused on that,” Jones said. “I’ve always done that. I really need to improve, obviously, and that’s what I’m going to focus on.”

The Patriots are currently 2-8 on the season.
