As the Texas A&M Aggies look to rebound from their upset loss to the Appalachian State Mountaineers last weekend, it looks like they’ll be making a huge change at the sport’s most important position.

According to a report from The Battalion, Texas A&M is benching former starting quarterback Haynes King and will instead start junior quarterback Max Johnson in this week’s game against the Miami Hurricanes.

The decision comes after King struggled mightily in the team’s upset loss to Appalachian State over the weekend. King completed 13 of his 20 pass attempts for just 97 yards and an interception on Saturday afternoon, leading the team to just 14 points in the loss.

Johnson, the team’s new starter, transferred to Texas A&M during the offseason after spending his first two seasons with the LSU Tigers. During his time with the Tigers, Johnson threw for 3,885 yards and 35 touchdowns while completing 59.8 percent of his passes. Johnson appeared in the Aggies’ season-opening win over Sam Houston State, completing three of his four pass attempts for 23 yards.

Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M will hope Johnson is the answer for their offensive woes and they’ll have a stiff task this weekend against the Hurricanes, which boasts one of the better defenses in the country.
