A former Michigan Wolverines quarterback landed with a CFL team on Monday morning.

Shea Patterson joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the team announced. Saskatchewan made the signing of Patterson, who played with the Wolverines from 2018-19, official on Twitter.

Patterson returns to the CFL after he played with the Montreal Alouettes in 2021. He also was picked by the BC Lions first, but was released after not playing a game with the team. He backed up Vernon Adams and Matthew Shiltz. In 2022, he joined the Michigan Panthers of the start-up USFL and went to the New Orleans Breakers, as well. Now though, the former third-team All-Big Ten selection is back in Canada. The Roughriders and Patterson’s terms were not disclosed by the team.

Patterson played in five games with the Alouettes in 2021. He ran for 176 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns as a player used primarily for short-yardage situations.

At Michigan, Patterson threw for over 5,000 yards in his career. He threw for 5,661 to be exact with 45 touchdowns and 15 interceptions with the Wolverines. In 2019 he threw for 23 touchdowns, which wound up being his career-high as a collegiate quarterback. He completed 60.1 percent of his passes, 64.4 percent of them in his first season in Ann Arbor in 2018.

In the USFL, Patterson completed 60 percent of his passes for 1,020 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions.
