Last month, the Ohio State Buckeyes made a pretty important hire as head coach Ryan Day brought on offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien to run the offense, giving up play-calling duties for the first time since he arrived in Columbus seven years ago. But in a pretty brutal turn of events for the Buckeyes, they’ll now be looking for a new offensive coordinator just a few weeks later.

Less than a month after becoming the new offensive coordinator at Ohio State, it looks like Bill O’Brien is now leaving the Buckeyes to become the next head coach of the Boston College Eagles, according to a report from college football insider Pete Thamel of ESPN.

“Sources: Boston College is working toward a deal to hire Bill O’Brien as the school’s next head coach. A deal is expected soon, giving BC a well-regarded coach with extensive NFL experience and strong local ties,” Thamel wrote in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

This is obviously some pretty brutal news for the Buckeyes, and the college football world had a lot to say about it on social media.

It will certainly be interesting to see who the Buckeyes turn to at offensive coordinator now with O’Brien gone.
