There have been many strange things we’ve seen on the football field through the years, but what happened Thursday night ranks right up there with the strangest.
An opossum decided to run onto the football field during the Texas Tech/TCU game. Security had to capture and escort the poor creature off the field.
As you can tell from the video, the opossum wasn’t happy about being caught. In fact, it hissed and showed its teeth the entire time it was being dragged away.

It’s not unusual to see opossums in the South; in fact, they’re very common. It is, however, weird to see one out in the open like that on a football field in front of thousands of people.
Opossums are normally nocturnal animals who like dark places, but clearly, this particular one didn’t get the memo about his species.
Sports fans of course had to give their two cents on the subject and some of the responses were hilarious. One fan noted on X/Twitter that the snarling opossum was “Me when my wife is ready to leave at halftime …”

While some fans thought it was funny, others thought that security should have left the poor animal alone and let him find his own way out of the stadium.
Why? Let him be.
