Oregon Ducks mascot riding onto the field. Oregon takes the field as the Oregon Ducks host Portland State in the Ducks’ season opener Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore.

The Oregon Ducks had an offensive field day in their season-opening game against Portland State. And a tradition for the Oregon Ducks mascot had him very tired by the end of the game.

For those unaware of the Oregon mascot tradition, the Ducks mascot does pushups each time the team scores based on the number of points the team has at that point in the game. For example: If an Oregon touchdown puts their total score in the game to 28 points, the Ducks mascot will do 28 pushups.

This is continued throughout the game on each score, and Oregon star quarterback Bo Nix and company made the Ducks mascot do a whole lot of pushups…

The Ducks ended up putting up 81 points on a whopping 11 touchdowns, absolutely dominating a far inferior Portland State team.

Oregon’s final score of 81 resembles a 1980s NBA game far more than any college football game in recent memory. And this had the Oregon mascot extremely tired towards the end of the game.

A hilarious moment was captured on social media where the Ducks mascot jokingly collapsed on the sideline, clearly showing that all those pushups were exhausting.

The grand total of pushups that the mascot did was 546 throughout Saturday’s game. And fans gave the mascot a ton of credit for the impressive feat.

Mascots aren’t typically thought of as all that athletic in nature. However, you would certainly be hard pressed to find too many people who are able to do this many pushups in the span of one football game, so you have to be impressed with just how in shape the Oregon mascot really is.
