This was certainly not the season that USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams hoped to have as the Trojans finished the season just 7-5 with the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and future top-five pick at quarterback. And Paul Finebaum thinks there’s one person to blame for that: head coach Lincoln Riley.

During an appearance on ‘The Matt Barrie Show’ this week, Paul Finebaum absolutely blasted Lincoln Riley for the disappointing season, claiming that the coach “ruined” the season for Caleb Williams this year.

“Have you ever seen a college season ruined more than what Lincoln Riley did for Caleb Williams?” Finebaum asked, according to On3.

As Finebaum points out, Williams is widely considered a generational quarterback prospect, but USC was only able to win seven games with him this season.

“I said this a year ago right there that I thought it was really a shame that Bryce Young had such a terrible final year – he lost two games,” Finebaum said. “I mean you have a generational quarterback and you finish 7-5?”

It’s certainly not a good turn of events for Riley, USC, or Williams, but everybody will now just have to turn the page from the disappointment. Williams will now be headed to the NFL, and USC will try to bounce back next season.
