Drew Allar left No. 12 Penn State’s game Saturday in the third quarter with an arm injury and did not return.

Some fans immediately wondered if that might be a metaphor for Allar’s future at Penn State.

The Nittany Lions quarterback ran up the middle for eight yards against Rutgers, but took a hard hit from a defender. Allar stayed in the game, but on the next play, threw the ball out of bounds and walked over to the sideline. Staff quickly ushered him into the medical tent.

He later appeared on the sideline trying to get his right shoulder loose, then later holding his arm by his side.

Redshirt freshman Beau Pribula replaced Allar. Penn State went on to win, 27-6.

Allar had a couple of nice runs before exiting, but was largely ineffective through the air, completing 6-of-13 passes for 79 yards.

Fans quickly reacted to the bad news for the Nittany Lions, and wondered what it meant for Allar’s future at Penn State.
