There’s no secret that Peyton Manning is the most legendary quarterback ever to play for the Tennessee Volunteers, but it sounds like the Vols legend is excited about the next Tennessee starting quarterback, too.

This week, Peyton Manning revealed that he has a good relationship with upcoming Tennessee starting quarterback Joe Milton and is excited to see him perform this upcoming season.

“I’ve enjoyed getting to know Joe,” Manning said according to On3. “We text occasionally and pull hard for him and I’m really proud of him coming in last year after Hendon’s injury and keeping things together and a great bowl win. A bowl win can do so much for a quarterback’s confidence, especially in his first year, really, as a starter. So I can tell Joe’s confident and I’m excited about him having a great senior year.”

Manning also had some pretty high praise for Hooker’s arm strength, claiming that he was throwing it “like 40 yards” with just a little flick.

“He was throwing yesterday with my son, Marshall, who’s attending the camp this year and I mean like 40 yards is like a little flick for him, just a warmup,” Manning said.

It will be interesting to see how that arm strength translates to the game.
