Police have solved the mystery behind the thefts of jewelry, money and other valuables that Colorado Buffaloes players and staff reported after their Oct. 28 game against UCLA.

On3.com reported Monday that Pasadena Police say football players on an official recruiting visit to UCLA committed the thefts.

Police confirmed initial reports that the thieves allegedly took thousands of dollars in valuables from both locker rooms.

Although police did not name the suspects because they are juveniles, On3.com said reports indicate they attend Beaumont High School in Riverside County.

It’s unclear why the recruits had access to the locker room area, but an investigation into the incident is continuing.

“Search warrants were executed, and additional information will be provided soon as the investigation progresses,” Pasadena Police said in a statement. “The Pasadena Police Department would like to thank those who reported leads to our tip line.”

A few of the items have been recovered.

The thefts angered Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, who has called for the Rose Bowl to reimburse players for their losses.

“This is the Rose Bowl. They say the Granddaddy of them all, right? I’m sure Granddaddy has some money,” Sanders said a few days after the thefts.

UCLA head coach Chip Kelly called the thefts “awful.”
