Just two seasons ago, the Texas Longhorns were just 5-7 in their first season under new head coach Steve Sarkisian. And now, the team has bounced all the way back, making the College Football Playoff for the first time ever. And starting quarterback Quinn Ewers is understandably excited.

During a recent interview, Quinn Ewers opened up about the team’s response to getting selected for this year’s College Football Playoff field.

“Y’all probably heard it, everyone was going crazy,” Quinn Ewers said according to On3. “We should. We’ve worked so hard.”

As Ewers explains, this has been a long time coming for most of the players on this Texas Longhorns roster.

“We’ve came so far from some of these guys that were on that 5-7 team, to where we are now, there’s no better feeling for those guys and I’m just glad to be a part of a team that is able to enjoy it that much because they know what it’s like to be disregarded at 5-7,” Ewers said according to On3.

It’s worth noting that Ewers was not actually a member of that 5-7 team as he was still with the Ohio State Buckeyes at the time. But he can clearly see what it means for the team to bounce back the way that they have.
