When the Ohio State Buckeyes take on the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday afternoon, the Buckeyes will be facing off against Penn State quarterback Drew Allar – a five-star quarterback prospect out of northeast Ohio. And it sounds like Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has lots of respect for the Nittany Lions signal caller.

During his press conference on Tuesday, Ryan Day was asked about facing Drew Allar, and Day had some positive things to say about the star quarterback.

“A lot of respect for him and his program,” Day said during his press conference on Tuesday, according to On3. “Certainly, being from the state of Ohio, he’s a very good player.”

Allar was one of the top quarterbacks in the 2022 recruiting class and from the state of Ohio. Obviously, he ended up at Penn State instead of Ohio State. But as Day explains, it wasn’t because he wasn’t talented. Ohio State just simply had another high-profile quarterback committed already.

“He’s an Ohio kid that had a great career,” Day said. “We already had Quinn Ewers committed to us and it was a reclassification. At that point, he was already committed to Penn State.”

It will be interesting to see how Allar performs against the hometown Buckeyes.
