Colorado Buffaloes starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders – the son of head coach Deion Sanders – emerged as one of the biggest stars in college football last year and at one time was considered one of the frontrunners for the Heisman Trophy at the beginning of the season. But it looks like he’s not getting that treatment heading into next season.

Last week, DK Sportsbook released their initial early odds for the 2024 Heisman Trophy race, listing 19 different quarterbacks as potential candidates for college football’s most prestigious award. But one name was notably missing from the initial list: Shedeur Sanders.

Here’s a full list of the odds, via On3.

  • Quinn Ewers +750
  • Jalen Milroe +750
  • Carson Beck +750
  • Dillon Gabriel +1000
  • J.J. McCarthy +1800
  • Nico Iamaleava +1800
  • Jackson Arnold +1800
  • Conner Weigman +1800
  • Garrett Nussmeier +2000
  • Jaxson Dart +2000
  • DJ Uiagalelei +2500
  • Cade Klubnik +2500
  • Riley Leonard +2500
  • Will Rogers +3000
  • Drew Allar +3000
  • Noah Fifita +4000
  • Avery Johnson +5000
  • Devin Brown +5000
  • Jalon Daniels +5000

Even though Colorado had a pretty disappointing season, finishing with just a 4-8 record after going 3-0 to start the season, Shedeur Sanders played well. On the season, he finished with a 69.3 completion percentage, throwing for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns with just three interceptions.

But apparently, his strong play last season was not enough to convince DK Sportsbook that he was a legitimate Heisman contender.
