Tennessee Volunteers fans tear down the goalposts at Neyland Stadium following their upset win over No. 1 Alabama Fans of the Tennessee Volunteers tore down the goalposts at Neyland Stadium following their team’s upset win over the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Tennessee Volunteers upset the Alabama Crimson Tide, 52-49, in Knoxville on Saturday night in a game that SEC fans will be talking about for decades. The game had everything from lead changes to missed potentially game-winning kicks to an offensive lineman vomiting on the field.

After the game, the Volunteers added insult to injury by blaring Alabama (the band)’s, Dixieland Delight, a Tennesee-themed song favored by Crimson Tide fans. The insults didn’t stop there, either. The Volunteers fans made quick work of Neyland Stadium’s goalposts following the win.

Even the referees realized the field goalposts were in the danger zone seconds after Tennessee sealed its first series win over Alabama in 16 years:

“LMFAO THESE REFS WERE TRYNA GET OFF THE FIELD SO FAST,” the user wrote.

The posts fell shortly thereafter:

Woah. Tennessee beats Alabama and the goalposts come down,” Taylor Kauffman wrote.

“Gonna be a long night in Knoxville,” Joey Blackwell joked.

The goalposts must have been in need of a celebratory drink, because they left the stadium with the fans and were seen headed in the direction of Knoxville’s numerous bars:

“The goalposts have exited Neyland,” Josh Pate reported.

At least one reporter claims to know what should happen next:

Fans went for the goalposts. The goalposts put up a valiant fight. Finally, they fell. So did Alabama. After whispers the past few weeks of, “Are the Vols back?” it now can be loudly proclaimed. Yes, the Vols are back. Now, rank them No. 1,” Blake Toppmeyer wrote.

Tennessee is next in action on Oct. 22nd, when they host the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks.
