On Tuesday evening, the first College Football Playoff rankings of the season will debut, and it sounds like Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian is feeling pretty good about where his team’s resume stacks up among the other national title contenders in the country.
During a recent press conference, Steve Sarkisian declared that he thinks the team’s win over the Alabama Crimson Tide earlier in the season was the best win in college football so far this season.
“I’d argue we have the best win in the country right now,” Sarkisian said according to On3’s Inside Texas. “The fact that we went into Tuscaloosa, Alabama and beat a team that was 52-1 in the previous 53 games going in there.”
As Sarkisian pointed out, there aren’t a lot of SEC teams who have been good enough to go into Tuscaloosa and hand Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide a loss.
“I hear so much about how tough the SEC is, but I haven’t seen any of those teams go into Alabama and win either,” Sarkisian said.
Texas does have one loss on the season, falling to Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry, but the Longhorns are still in the mix for a potential College Football Playoff berth.
