Heading into the 2022 college football season, Ohio State Buckeyes star running back TreVeyon Henderson was widely considered one of the top running backs in the entire country and was even considered a preseason Heisman Trophy contender by many. But the season didn’t quite work out for him and now we know why – a brutal injury.

During an interview this week, TreVeyon Henderson revealed that he was dealing with a foot injury that made it nearly impossible to plant his foot and push off, which is obviously important for a running back.

“Basically I couldn’t push off that whole last season. Every time I tried to push off I was basically refracturing that bone,” Henderson said during an interview session Wednesday, according to Griffin Strom of Eleven Warriors. “And then I tore some ligaments and tendons. So my foot was basically beat up. … It was moments where sometimes I’d be hopping around or it would take me a while to really hit the hole. And that’s just because I knew that if I would plant my foot, that I would basically refracture that bone. Even when I was getting tackled, like at the beginning of every game, as soon as I’d get tackled, I’d basically retweak my foot.

“I was just thinking about it all the time. Going into the game, you don’t want to be thinking all the time, you just want to go out there and do it.”

Obviously, Henderson will hope to be 100 percent healthy and back to his normal dominant self this upcoming season.
