As many know, PETA, which is the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has taken another controversial stance. This time it’s against the University of Georgia.

PETA thinks the university should no longer have a live mascot. Uga, Georgia’s lovable bulldog mascot, hangs out on the sideline of their football games. PETA made their stance in January after the Bulldogs won their second consecutive national championship.

Two former Georgia Bulldog players think PETA should leave the school alone and mind its business. Knowshon Moreno and Tavarres King, who played with Georgia in the mid-2000s, had this to say to PETA.

“I feel like those pets live the best lives!” said Moreno. “Uga live the life!”

“I don’t think folks know how good of a life Uga lives,” said King. “Uga lives a good one.”

PETA thinks it’s cruel and usual punishment to have the bulldog on the sideline, but all indications are, as King and Moreno have said, the animal is treated well. A British bulldog has served as the Uga mascot for close to 60 years, as the current Uga, Uga X, has been with the team since 2015.

Generations of families have taken care of the bulldogs over the years, and there hasn’t been one single report of the animal being treated with cruelty by its owners.
