The lone loss of the year for the USC Trojans was to the Utah Utes. While USC and Utah will renew hostilities this week in the Pac-12 Championship Game, USC is not out for revenge.
So says head coach Lincoln Riley. The USC head coach doesn’t believe it’s a “revenge game” for the Trojans, who fell 43-42 earlier this season in Salt Lake City to the Utes. They were otherwise unblemished this season en route to a top-of-the-table finish in the Pac-12 Conference.
Riley spoke to the media on Tuesday afternoon. He was quoted by Trojans writer Antonio Morales of The Athletic, as he said, “This is not a revenge game. This is not what this is. We played a really good football game, as did Utah up in Salt Lake and it was an elite college football game. It came down to one play here or there. They got us that time but this is not about that game.”

Riley stressed that it was a “new game” and about the new opportunities ahead of the Trojans. Like a potential berth in the College Football Playoff if the team wins on Friday night.
USC will play Utah on Friday night in the Pac-12 Championship Game’s debut in Las Vegas, Nevada.
