It looks like one of the top quarterbacks in the SEC will be playing for another college football program next year.

According to a report from Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports, Mississippi State Bulldogs star quarterback Will Rogers intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal and seek a new team to conclude his career following the 2023 college football season.

“Mississippi State standout QB Will Rogers is expected to enter the transfer portal, sources tell @247sports,” Zenitz wrote in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

“Ranks No. 2 in SEC history with 12,315 career passing yards and fourth with 94 career passing TDs,” Zenitz continued in his post.

As Zenitz points out, his 2021 season was one of the best passing seasons in SEC history, comparable only to a pair of Heisman Trophy winners.

“His 4,739 yards in 2021 ranks as the third-most in a single-season in SEC history behind only Heisman winners Joe Burrow and Bryce Young,” Zenitz wrote in a follow-up post.

It’s not clear where exactly will look to transfer or which teams will choose to pursue the standout SEC quarterback, but he will surely be one of the most highly-recruited players in the transfer portal this offseason.
