There has been a lot of talk these last few weeks about whether or not the merger between PGA Tour and LIV Golf. Things have been shaky between the two leagues since the merger was announced back in June.

PGA players were especially upset because they weren’t informed about the merger after Monahan had told them there would be no way that the two leagues would merge.

There are even questions among the golfers if they would even vote for the deal to go through but according to PGA commissioner Jay Monahan, he thinks the deal will go through and that the PGA is in a good position right now.

“When you go back to our framework agreement, we have put an end to the divisive and distracting litigation, we have safeguards that are in place to put the PGA Tour in a position to control our future,” Monahan said. “And as I sit here today, I am confident that we will reach an agreement that achieves a positive outcome for the PGA Tour and our fans. I see it and I’m certain of it.”

Many think the merger only took place to stop the ligation between the two, but Monahan thinks this merger was done out of good faith on both sides despite the fact that most PGA players aren’t buying that explanation.

“I would say that we operate in good faith and I see that on both sides. And that framework agreement, which is an agreement to reach an agreement, put us in a position to reach an agreement. Those safeguards that are in place and our commitment to moving from the divisive nature of the relationship we had to a productive one,” he said.

That’s if the merger goes through.
