Months ahead of the launch of TGL Golf, PGA golfer Jon Rahm pulled out of the Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy venture and many are wondering why.

The Master’s champion’s name was removed from the site Wednesday leaving many to wonder if Rahm, like other PGA golfers, is about to leave and join LIV Golf.

Jordan Spieth and  Scottie Scheffler also opted out of it as well. One reason golfers may be opting out is because of schedule conflicts and location. Rahm lives in Arizona while TGL Golf is located in Florida where Woods and McIlroy have homes.

TGL Golf released a statement about Rahm.

“Jon is one of the most talented players in the game and we will miss him during the inaugural TGL season. We understand that players have to balance a lot of different facets of their professional and personal lives and respect Jon’s choice and wish him well.”

Rahm also confirmed his departure.

TGL is a tech-infused golf league that will see 18 of the world’s best golfers compete in events held in a custom-built arena in Florida. The format will use golf simulators for some aspects with the hope of offering fans a shorter, different golf viewing experience. Teams will be involved with four golfers on each team and there will be six teams involved.

Four out of those six teams, all from different cities, will advance in a Ryder Cup-type match-up against each other to determine an eventual winner.

Play goes from January to about early spring just before the new PGA season gets underway and while they may have lost Rahm, the league still has the likes of Justin Thomas, Shane Lowery, Ricki Fowler, and Woods and McIlroy.
