When it comes to golfers at the 2022 U.S. Open whose names should be easy to remember, Justin Thomas has to be at the top of that list.

Not only is Thomas a two-time PGA Championship winner and Masters champion but he’s also a former No. 1 ranked golfer in the world. Also, his name is Justin Thomas, about as straightforward as they come in the U.S.

However, the first-tee announcer at The Country Club decided to put a little mustard on that last name, much to the surprise of everyone, including Thomas.

“From Louisville, Kentucky, Justin Thompson.”

So close.

The look on Thomas’s face afterward says it all.

Naturally, the golf world watching at home had a field day with the last name mispronunciation.

Hey, it happens.

Thomas had a solid start to the week with a 1-under 69 on Thursday but his Friday took him back a bit after a 2-over 72. He made the cut and began his third-round on Saturday in a tie for 33rd at 1-over par. He’s playing to hopefully make up some ground today so that he can get back in contention on Sunday.

Regardless, you better believe that when he tees off tomorrow, the announcer is going to say “Thomas.”
