The Masters golf tournament is widely considered one of the most beautiful and picturesque environments in the whole world of sports. But based on the weather forecast for this week, that might not be the case for this year’s tournament.
Here’s a look at the weather report from Sports Illustrated:
According to Augusta National’s Wednesday 7 a.m. weather update, Thursday’s forecast looks clear in the morning, but afternoon tee times could see thunderstorms. The course is calling for a 40% chance of scattered storms in the afternoons, with high temperatures of 84 degrees and 7-14 mph winds.
On Friday, there is a 50% chance of rain in the morning that increases to 70% in the afternoon. Temperatures will then plummet on Saturday to 49-52 degrees with 25 mph wind gusts. There’s also a 90% chance of rain.
On Sunday the cool temperatures will continue, with a high of 62 degrees and a low of 47. There is a 50% chance of rain in the morning, but skies will open up in the afternoon for partly sunny conditions.
That’s certainly not ideal conditions, and the golf world had plenty to say about it.
From scanning weather forecasts real chance of PM/AM advantage over the first 36 holes at The Masters, with colder temps, increasing wind and likely rain Friday PM.

⛳️☔️ Weather for the #Masters looks a bit on the sloppy side. Highest rainfall totals could stay north, but still likely 2-3 inches at Augusta.
Right now Saturday looks to be the ugliest day, but rain is possible Thurs-Sunday 👎

We are two days away from The Masters and we're starting to get a picture of the weather for the four-day tournament.
It could be wet at Augusta this year, with rain in the forecast almost every day. pic.twitter.com/8jINQo3HK5

Carry distance will be a big factor this week at Augusta. With wet fairways and lengthening of multiple holes, you’ll see less rollout.

It’s safe to say that athletes and fans can expect some wet conditions and potentially some delays in play throughout the week, because it would seem that rain is totally unavoidable based on this forecast.
We’ll have to see how this affects the players.
