Rory McIlroy LIV June 4, 2023: Dublin, Ohio, USA; Rory McIIroy watches his tee shot on the first hole during the final round of the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club.

The war between Rory Mcllroy and Phil Mickelson continues as Mickelson commented again about playing for the LIV Tour, which Mcllroy didn’t let go.

Mickelson bragged that the LIV golfers are much more prepared for the majors because they don’t have as many events to attend as PGA golfers.

“Love LIV or hate it, it’s the best way/Tour to be your best in the majors. Enough events to keep you sharp, fresh and ready, yet not be worn down from too many tournaments or obligations. 14 LIV events, 34 weeks left open to prepare for the four majors, he said. Then he ended his statement with “fact.”

Mcllroy had his take on Mickleson’s comments. He defended the PGA and corrected Mickelson on a few details that he left out in his statement.

“You know, no one makes anyone play 25 events on the PGA Tour. 15’s the minimum. So you can play 15 and your four Major championships, and there you go,” he said. You’re at 19. No one’s making you play that many. So I think that’s a pretty flawed argument”.

Mcllroy has been one of the LIV’s most prominent critics and does not mind going against the likes of Mickelson.

Jon Rahm had another take on Mickelson’s comments. He thinks Mickelson is just defending his Tour like he usually does.

“Well, listen, Phil is a friend of mine, but what else is he going to say? Right? He’s obviously going to advocate for his side, and that’s perfectly fine,” he said.

The back and forth between the two tours isn’t bad for ratings.
