For the first time in history, the U.S. Open will be held at the Los Angeles Country Club. Not only will this be the first U.S. Open held at the course, but aside from the 2017 Walker Cup, the venue hasn’t hosted any professional or big amateur events in decades.
So, what will the course be like? Demanding, to say the least.
TaylorMade Golf shared a video on Monday of two balls being dropped onto the right side of the 13th hole. Both holes rolled down a significant incline, running off of the fairway and even through the first cut of rough, finally coming to rest in the second cut of rough.
Just how demanding is LACC ? Here’s what happens when you land it just right of the center of the fairway on the par-4 13th. 😳 #TeamTaylorMade pic.twitter.com/MlqF7zjOgO

That left some fans wondering if this setup was really for the best.
Are we in for another one of "those" US Open setups? There's a difference between "tight fairways" and "middle of the fairway isn't a good enough shot", and every sane golfer knows it. https://t.co/URQ385iiQ8

The U.S. Open is generally the toughest tournament in the world. In most years, it will punish bad shots more than any other tournament, even the other majors. That’s accepted.
But there’s a difference between penalizing bad shots and good shots often not being good enough.
The 13th hole will also play at roughly 500 yards for the tournament. So, hitting the fairway will be important. If hitting the fairway is effectively impossible, it could venture past challenging and into the ridiculous category.
