Brooks Koepka barely missed making this year’s Ryder Cup team with an automatic bid. Koepka finished only 29 points behind Xander Schauffele, which means Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson would have to select Koepka to be on the team.

Johnson has been non-committal about adding Koepka or Brandel Chamblee to this year’s squad. Chamblee said recently he had a chat with Johnson at the US Open but hasn’t heard from him since.

And while Johnson has been non-committal on the subject, some PGA golfers haven’t. They would welcome Koepka to the team.

“I think he was 30 points shy? Which is, I think it was the equivalent of like $30,000 throughout the year,” Scottie Scheffler said Wednesday at the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta. “So if he played one tournament on Tour, I think he probably would have been on the team.”

Other PGA golfers expressed they would want Koepka on the team.

Brian Harman, who recently won the British Open, would welcome Koepka to the team. Harman qualified for the team based on winning a major and having enough points.

“I think he would be a pretty good addition to the team. I’m not totally familiar with his record in Ryder Cups, but the experience would certainly help, especially considering there’s probably going to be a fair amount of rookies over there,” he said.

“The goal of the Ryder Cup is to win, so whoever Zach thinks that can help us win the Ryder Cup, I think, needs to be on the team,” Harman said.

It will be interesting to see if Johnson will take any of this into consideration when he rounds out the team, so far, he hasn’t.
