With targeting and unnecessary roughness penalties growing more and more common throughout both college football and the NFL, big hits are becoming less frequent throughout all levels of football as time goes on. But this weekend, an absolutely massive hit during a high school football game sent waves around the football world.
During Friday night’s game between nationally-renown Bishop Gorman High School and opponent Canyon Springs, Bishop Gorman senior cornerback Jeremiah Vessel put an absolutely massive hit on his opponent after a successful Canyon Spring completion.
As the Canyon Spring player made the catch in the flats, Vessel was right there to put a punishing blow on the wide receiver to knock him backward and jar the ball loose for an incompletion.

It was a textbook, perfectly clean tackle from the Bishop Gorman cornerback, and the football world had plenty of positive reactions after the clip started circulating on social media this week.

Vessel has not yet committed to play football for any college football program, but it appear that college football is certainly in his future. The Bishop Gorman cornerback is currently rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 133 overall cornerback in the country according to 247Sports.
