A high school football game in Oklahoma became disrupted Friday night after a shooting, which left one victim dead.

Four people were shot at between Choctaw High School and Del City High School during a game. The Associated Press reported that during the skirmish, a police officer fired a weapon as well.

“Officers responded to a report of a shooting around 10:30 p.m. at a game in Choctaw between Choctaw High School and Del City High School, Choctaw Police Chief Kelly Marshall said. The victims were transported to a hospital with gunshot wounds,” the AP wrote.

According to the AP, at the hospital, one victim was treated for wounds to the thigh. The woman who received treatment had been released, according to police. Another person, the AP said, “was treated for a possible broken leg.”

The conditions of the other three victims were not yet made available at the time. However, on Saturday morning, police offered a grim update. The total number of victims increased from four to five, and a 16-year-old boy died in the shooting, according to authorities.

The 16-year-old was apparently not a student at either school. A 42-year-old man was shot in the chest as a result of the shooting. He has been treated in the ICU, according to police and a report from KOCO 5. Two girls were injured as well.

An unfortunate, senseless act of violence sadly turned fatal. We wish the victims of this shooting in Oklahoma only the best, especially the family of the 16-year-old boy who was killed.
