Angel Hernandez Angel Hernandez

Over the past few years, Major League Baseball umpire Ángel Hernández has become notorious for his horrible and very public blunders which often lead to him being blasted on social media, by commentators, and by coaches and players. And it happened again this weekend.

During Sunday afternoon’s game between the Atlanta Braves and the San Francisco Giants, Ángel Hernández had one of the worst strike calls you’ll ever see.

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Max Fried threw a big, hooking breaking ball well off the plate to Giants outfielder Luis Matos. But much to everyone’s surprise, Hernández confidently called it a strike – even though it was nowhere near the strike zone.

Naturally, this led to quite a few reactions on social media as fans expressed their frustration and fury at baseball’s most infamous umpire. Many fans even went as far as to suggest that he should be removed from his job.

This certainly isn’t the first time Hernández has been roasted online after an absolutely horrible call at the plate. In fact, it’s happened many times over the past few seasons. And it’s safe to say that his regular blunders certainly aren’t doing much to quiet the calls for automatic, computerized balls and strikes calls.
