The Chicago Cubs faced off against their cross-town rivals in the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, and a spectacular catch from Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki played a big role in the end result of the game.

White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada came to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning facing a 7-3 deficit with the bases loaded and an opportunity to greatly change the course of the game.

He put a great drive into a pitch from Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks, but Suzuki came up with a ridiculous catch at the wall on a hit that was certainly destined to be a grand slam.

The White Sox would score one run on a sacrifice fly in the play, but things could have been far worse if Suzuki didn’t come up with the ridiculous home run robbery.

Hendricks gave Suzuki a clap from the mound after the play, and fans at home echoed his sentiments by praising him for the great catch on social media.

If Suzuki hadn’t come up with the catch, the White Sox would have cut the Cubs’ lead to just two runs. Instead, the Cubs finished the seventh inning with a four-run lead. They would go on to win the game 7-3.

Kyle Hendricks was asked about Suzuki’s terrific catch after the game, further praising him for the way he made the play look so easy.

“Yeah I thought it was gone for sure,” said Hendricks. “And he made it look so casual and nonchalant. Just an unreal catch, an unbelievable catch that changed the scope of the game.”
