Cleveland Guardians center fielder Myles Straw played the role of the hero in Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves, gunning down a runner at the plate with an incredible throw at a key point of the game.

The game went to extra innings, and the red-hot Braves came to the plate first in the tenth inning. They were threatening to score in the inning, but Myles Straw had different ideas.

Braves outfielder Eddie Rosario stepped up to the plate with only one out, and a runner on third base. He proceeded to hit a fly ball into center field, and it looked like it could be deep enough to score the third-base runner Sam Hilliard, who was brought in as a pinch-runner.

Instead, Straw made an unbelievable throw to home, which got to Guardians catcher David Fry just before Hilliard got to home plate.

As good of a throw as it was from Straw, a ton of credit also has to go to David Fry, who had to quickly lunge over and make the tag on the sliding runner. He did just that, tagging Hilliard out at the plate.

It couldn’t have come at a more opportune time, and many around the MLB world reacted to the excellent play on social media.

This play would end up being the difference in the game, as David Fry made another impact play when it mattered in the bottom of the tenth inning. He would come through with an RBI single to walk it off in a 6-5 Guardians victory.

This win was particularly impressive against the Braves considering their recent stretch of impressive play as of late. They came into the game riding a nine-game winning streak, the longest active streak in the league before this loss.
