The Baltimore Orioles made a trade Thursday night acquiring right-handed pitcher Corbin Burnes.

In exchange for Burnes, the Milwaukee Brewers will receive infielder Joey Ortiz, left-handed pitcher D.L. Hall and the 34th pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.

This is just a day after the Orioles officially announced the sale of the team to a group led by David Rubenstein.

As far as the trade goes, the Orioles’ quest to find pitching will be adding Burnes to bolster their rotation just two seasons after his Cy Young campaign in 2021. That season, he also earned the first of three All-Star selections across six seasons.

He heads to the orange and black with a career 3.26 ERA.

The team also appears to be very appreciative of the trade, tagging general manager Mike Elias in a post on X:

Both teams made the trade official on social media Thursday night.

For the Brewers, Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle once commented on Ortiz’ playing ability saying he’s one of the best shortstops he’s ever seen.

The Brewers are fond of lefty relievers which helps the addition of Hall to their bullpen.

The Orioles, under new ownership after majority owner Peter Angelos sold the team for $1.725 billion, are quickly making changes to this upcoming season.

The team finished 2023 with a 101-61 record and a bid to the American League Division Series.
