Thursday’s game between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers featured a hilarious coincidence that has caught the attention of the MLB world involving Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger.
It is April 20th, otherwise known as 4/20, a day that some celebrate for various reasons, one of which is for those that enjoy the use of recreational marijuana.
It has been a running joke for many around the baseball world that Bellinger may enjoy using marijuana from time to time. This makes his home run in the second inning of Thursday’s game even more perfect considering how far it went.
Bellinger hit a fastball from Michael Grove deep out to left-center field for a home run to tie the game at 1-1.

What made this home run so ironic is that the ball hit by Bellinger went 420 feet on 4/20. Many around the MLB world very clearly took notice of this and thanked the baseball gods for this incredible coincidence.

There were some who were skeptical that the Cubs gave Bellinger a one-year deal worth $17.5 million this offseason. However, it has paid off thus far. Bellinger has had an excellent start to the season, hitting .284 on the year with four home runs on the year.
Some 4/20 magic was definitely in the air at Wrigley Field on Thursday, because another 420-foot home run was hit in the game. Dodgers outfielder James Outman would replicate Bellinger’s home run in the top of the third inning to give Los Angeles a 2-1 lead.
