Crazy bouncing ball hit from Nick Ahmed

Tuesday’s game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals featured one of the most impressive hits in recent memory on a pitch that had no business being hit at all.

The play occurred at a crucial point in the game. Arizona had the bases loaded with no outs in a 2-2 game. Cardinals pitcher Jordan Montgomery desperately needed a strikeout or a double play to help limit the damage that could happen in the inning.

However, Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed had other plans.

Montgomery threw a nasty 2-2 curveball in the dirt that would have caused 99 percent of hitters to swing and miss.

Instead of a strikeout, Ahmed hit the pitch that bounced to the plate into left field for an unreal two-run double to give the Diamondbacks a 4-2 lead over St. Louis.

An even more crazy angle of the play came from Bally Sports Arizona on Twitter which shows the degree of difficulty of this hit.

This would not be the end of Montgomery’s struggles in the inning. He would relinquish a three-run homer run from Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno to blow the doors open in this game.

This massive inning for the Diamondbacks was all started by the ridiculous hit by Ahmed. He received a ton of praise for the hit on social media from the MLB world.

Bad-ball hitting is something that we used to see far more frequently by the great hitters of the past such as Vladimir Guerrero Sr. and Ichiro.

Nick Ahmed gave us a blast from the past on this one, and MLB fans seem to be absolutely eating it up.
