The 2023 All-Star rosters have been announced as the best players in the league look forward to a trip to Seattle for the Midsummer Classic and all of the festivities that come with it.
Well, not all of them… With the injury bug biting some of the biggest names in the game, replacements have been called in.
As three-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw lands on the injured list with a shoulder injury, his replacement was announced.
Pirates pitcher David Bednar will take his place on the National League roster, and he wanted to make sure he didn’t accept without a gift to Kershaw. The gift being in the form of beer, of course.

The Dodgers are in the midst of hosting the Pirates for a four-game series, so it was a simple walk across the diamond to the opposing dugout for Bednar to leave his gift.
The note from Bednar read:
Mr. Kershaw,
Pittsburgh’s finest beer.
Enjoy!
The I.C. Light beer comes from the Pittsburgh Brewing Company and is a light lager that “embodies all things black and gold,” according to the website.
A very nice gift indeed.
Bednar has put up quite the campaign this season with a 1.44 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 31.1 innings of relief. He also possesses a 1.73 FIP and 0.90 WHIP.
Others who have joined the All-Star squad as replacements include Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez who takes over for Astros outfielder and designated hitter Yordan Alvarez.
Also, Mariners starter George Kirby replaces Rays starter Shane McClanahan and Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker replaces Angels outfielder Mike Trout.
