NEW YORK, NY – OCTOBER 03: David Robertson #30 of the New York Yankees reacts after hitting catcher Gary Sanchez #24 with a wild pitch against the Minnesota Twins during the sixth inning in the American League Wild Card Game at Yankee Stadium on October 3, 2017 in the Bronx borough of New York City. New York Yankees star catcher Gary Sanchez took a Brian Dozier foul ball right to the nuts during Tuesday night’s AL Wild Card game, and pitcher David Robertson immediately knew the severe pain his battery mate was in.

You’d like to think Sanchez wears a cup as a catcher, but the cup will only help so much (especially on a major-league foul ball).

Sanchez was able to fight off the pain and stay in the game, and even smoked a 108-mph line drive single the next inning.

Sanchez’s nutshot comes just a couple weeks after the Yankees’ Chase Headley took a pitch to the groin while batting.
