The New York Yankees have gotten off to a great start to begin the 2024 season. A big reason for this has been the impressive early play from new Yankees star Juan Soto. On Friday, the Yankees fans in attendance for the team’s home opener sure made Soto feel right at home with a massive ovation at the start of the game.

One of the many Yankees traditions comes from the fans at the right field fence commonly referred to as the “Bleacher Creatures” performing a “roll call” for the right fielder.

For those who are unaware of what this roll call entails, it is when the fans begin to chant the name of the right fielder, which is commonly followed by the right fielder greeting the fans.

Soto experienced this for the first time as a Yankee on Friday in the top of the first innings, and it happened to be quite a bit louder than the average roll call. Soto then took a bow and gave a tip of the cap to acknowledge the support from the fans once there was a pause in the action.

It was truly an awesome moment to see. And many fans took to social media to offer their opinion on all the love Soto has received early on in his Yankees tenure.

Early on, Soto has certainly been as good as advertised to Yankees fans, coming into this game hitting for a .345 batting average with one home run and four RBIs.

Only time will tell whether Soto continues this impressive play. But it sure seems like Yankees fans are hoping that he sticks around for a very long time.
