Kendall Graveman will miss the entirety of the 2024 season after undergoing shoulder surgery last week, the Astros announced Tuesday.
This is coming off of Graveman’s absence in the postseason when the shoulder issues were prominent.

The Astros said Graveman developed soreness in his shoulder and after he underwent a program of rest and rehab this offseason before returning to flat-ground throwing, he felt discomfort.
This is a big loss for Houston who were already dealing with losses in the bullpen due to free agency. General manager Dana Brown told The Athletic’s Chandler Rome this doesn’t change the way they are approaching their search for some more bullpen arms.
“We’ve been focused on the (bullpen) anyway, this doesn’t intensify it,” Brown said. “We just may have to get one more body or one of our guys internally will step up.”
Brown added he doesn’t want to make any rational mistakes.
“I just don’t want to go out and get something to get something,” Brown said. “Oftentimes, we have guys in-house that can get the job done. Spring training is going to be a big piece of this. We’re going to see how well guys are throwing and you can always make a move during spring training or after spring training.”
Despite the loss of Hector Neris, Ryne Stanek, and Phil Maton in free agency, Brown did tell Rome he had been in contact with their representatives.
Graveman boasted a 2.42 ERA with the Astros this season after being traded by the Chicago White Sox.
