There has been much speculation as of late regarding New York Mets manager Buck Showalter and his job status within the organization. This may finally be getting to him, as he let his frustrations out on the umpires in Wednesday’s matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Mets owner Steve Cohen made it clear in a press conference before Wednesday’s game that both Showalter and general manager Billy Epstein will “absolutely” keep their jobs for the rest of the season.
Regardless, Mets fans aren’t still calling for Showalter’s head, and the pressure of that may finally be catching up to him.
Showalter got into a heated argument with first-base umpire Ron Kulpa after he felt that Brewers outfielder Joey Wiemer swung on a pitch that hit him.

He went out onto the field to argue with Kulpa, and it was clear to everyone early on that this interaction would not be good for the agitated manager. Showalter would be ejected by Kulpa after getting into his face during the argument.
A huge criticism of Showalter this season has been his lack of urgency and passion during Mets games. That wasn’t a problem on Wednesday night, and fans took to social media to react to his ejection.

The Mets have had a less than stellar bullpen this season, and Wednesday’s game was no exception. They would allow two runs in this inning after Showalter’s ejection and go on to lose the game 5-2.
