When it comes to Minor League Baseball, promoting your team in a very crowded field takes precedence over nearly everything else. This leads to many wild and crazy ideas, which often include an excessive amount of bizarre alternate uniforms. Alternate uniforms in Minor League Baseball are about as common as a 4-6-3 double play, so it takes something truly unique or special to really stand out in the crowd.
Behold, the emoji jersey.
And The Winner Is….Emoji Jersey! Whitecaps will be wearing these on Social Media Night, June 30. @LittleRiverFun pic.twitter.com/JbHDcU82O4

The West Michigan Whitecaps, a Class A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, will be wearing these jerseys for the team’s Social Media Night on June 30, so this is certainly an appropriate theme for the alternate look. In the past, we have seen teams add Twitter names to uniforms, but this may be the first time we have seen emojis on a uniform.
Of course, this is not a finished product and merely an artist’s rendering, so we’ll have to wait a little bit longer to see how the final product looks. I will say, however, this idea is 🔥.
The emoji uniform was voted on by the fans of the team. The buzzword jersey stood no chance in this fight, and the Snapchat jersey was also pretty weak. There was no way the emoji jersey was going to lose this vote.

What, no Facebook jersey?! It would have probably been covered with nothing but pictures of animals, food, and ridiculous political memes, so maybe that wouldn’t be the best idea for a baseball jersey.
